20 IOT Devices connecting the world
What are IoT devices?
IoT devices are non-standard computing devices that connect
wirelessly to the Internet or a local area network, TechTarget reports.
Internally controlled devices may transmit and receive data from other devices.
Some everyday examples might be a car, a doorbell or even a refrigerator. These
IoT devices can be hardware, sensors, devices, machines or devices that communicate
with the network or the Internet through their applications and programs, such
as the dictionary from the company that manufactures Arm . These smart devices
turn ordinary objects into information-capable devices, says Cert NZ magazine.
How do IoT devices
work?
Many IoT devices collect information from their sensors, then
use analytics software to make decisions based on that data. These devices
often connect to a central server to access other information, according to
Cert NZ. They compare and transfer data to websites and social services to
collect data, and connect to email servers that can send emails, text messages,
or calls. IoT devices can also connect to other IoT devices on the same
wireless network to tell them what to do, Cert NZ said in its report.
Although IoT devices can make work easier, more convenient, or expand the power of the work, these devices can also pose security risks if they are damaged or compromised. The self-driving Cruise AV vehicle uses sensors to see hundreds of meters in front of you and a 360° view as the vehicle navigates roads and streets.
IoT devices don't have to be small. They can be as big as a
car - a car that really drives itself. Cruise's autonomous car uses sensors to
see hundreds of feet ahead and a 360-degree view as the car navigates roads and
streets. These sensors communicate with the steering and braking systems that
steer the car, Cruise reports.
